Melvic Gado Cano was born on June 1, 1979 at Camili, Alcantara, Romblon, Philippines.  He is the fifth child of Mr. Vicente Rodica Cano Sr. and Mrs. Emelia Galvero Gado.
 
Graduated as Valedictorian and Pupil Leader of the Year at Alcantara Central Elementary School and at a very young age, he was a constant representative of the school in provincial and regional Quiz Bees and School Competitions.

During his High School Years, he maintained his status as a top performer of the class and again became a constant delegate to Provincial and Regional Competitions including Inter-School competitions in Sports and Quiz Bees. At the age of 15, he was chosen by the province of Romblon to compete for DOH Region IV Poster making contest and out of 15 participants, he ranked third.

As part of the Alcantara National Trade School curriculum for students, he chose Drafting as his major course in High School and was exposed to different types and styles of designing. He also took some subjects about Architecture and Infrastructure Design.

In 1996, he graduated as Valedictorian again and was awarded by a Gold Medal from the Senate (under Neptali Gonzales) as a recognition for Most Outstanding Students that year. He also got the Insular Life Gold Eagle Award and garnered almost all ribbons of recognitions as outstanding student in each subject.

In that same year, He was the only one (out of 10 students chosen by the school) who passed the UPCAT.

He entered the University of the Philippines Diliman in 1996 with a course of BS Geodetic Engineering and still excelled in his field as an artist. He was offered to be an assistant lecturer for ES1 subject but he refused it so that he can focus more on other subjects.

After two years in Engineering and after several months of planning, he decided to change his career and moved to The Asian Institute of Tourism (AIT-UP Diliman) where he was able to reach the College Scholar standing and finished the course in 2001.

He was awarded  by AIT a Special Award for Excellence in Arts.

In 1999, he was accidentally enlisted by his friend to apply for The U.P. Singing Ambassadors (UPSA)- one of the top Philippine choirs. He succesfully passed the auditions and was able to join the choir in their major concerts/performances and International Tours in 2000 (Australia), 2001 (Europe), 2002 (Europe), 2005 (Europe), 2007 (Taiwan), 2008 (Europe), and 2009 (Taiwan).

He was assigned to be the Documentation Head for UPSA in 2001 and eventually became the one of the choir's Assistant Conductors.
